About Arctic Blond Living
"It's not gray, it's Arctic Blond."
Arctic Blond Living:
Arctic Blonde Living is about Empowered Lives: Laughing, Loving, Learning, Giving, and Being!
The idea for Arctic Blonde Living was accidentally born in the fall of 2024, when a regular guy (me) — just hitting retirement age—stepped off the "rat race for more." You know, that high-speed treadmill where no matter how good the week, month, quarter, or year was, we always needed more next time: more money, more status, more power, more stuff. Usually for someone else—like bosses, owners, or shareholders.
So it goes. A lifetime of faster and faster, more and more.
But stepping off the treadmill is jarring. It creates a massive void of time and headspace we have not had since childhood. Now, with the kids grown, the careers behind us, and the doors to retirement wide open, it’s a true opportunity to reinvent ourselves. It’s time to ask: What do I want to do? Who do I want to be?
We’ve worked hard to get here. Now, it’s time to spend some of that deferred fun, some of that money we saved, and enjoy the life we’ve earned.
But then comes the big question... Okay, um, so now what?
Arctic Blonde Living: Where Your Dreams Take Center Stage
For years, I’d jokingly called my gray, receding (and re-seeding, from my head to my back) hairline, Arctic Blonde.
So, then, fresh in retirement in my "Arctic Blonde" years, though I had said I had all these things I wanted to do, I was doing nothing. WTF?
I wanted, nay, needed to figure out: What the hell do I REALLY want, or need to do with the time I have left?
The best way to get any answer is ask. So I started the big one: If I were to die today, what regrets would I have?
What would I regret not doing?
What have I always wanted to do but never got around to?
What places have I dreamed of visiting but haven’t yet?
Answering these questions was just the beginning. You might realize, as I did, that when it came to the things we even truly wanted to do, we were experts at procrastinating. I’ll get to it someday, we’d say. Well, the problem with "someday" is it easily turns into never.
Something had to change for me.
The Motivation to Act? Time’s Ticking.
Here’s the reality check: We all face the immovable wall of death. None of us knows when we’ll hit it, but we do know this: We’re in the final lap. The only question is: How long is this lap?
According to actuarial tables, men average 76-79 years, giving us about 28,000 days. Women typically live longer, up to 30,660 days.
Now, at age 67, I figure I’ve got about 12 years—roughly 4,380 days—left. Plenty of time, right? But what if I only had 855 days left? That is the one thought that somehow lit a fire. It jolted me into action. No reason why it was 855 days, it just worked.
Suddenly, I knew it was time to stop 'someday-ing' my life and start living it NOW.”
For example, writing has always been a dream of mine, and guess what? You’re reading the result of finally getting started.
I don’t know what Arctic Blonde Living will become, if anything. I created it to do the things that bring me the MOST joy. This includes creating laughter, bringing people together, doing good, and empowering people to live our best lives.
Stop Waiting. It’s Time to Live Your Dreams.
Now, it’s your turn. It’s time to create the YOU that YOU want to be. It’s time to live the dreams you’ve put off for too long.
Arctic Blonde Living is all about squeezing the most joy, the most laughter, the most love, and the most learning out of life. It’s about being the most empowered version of yourself in these years we’ve earned.
Let’s go.
